They Rap, Get Alien Robots to do the Shuffle and Crash an 18th century ballet… What’s next?

Many brands have chosen to identify with a character, McDonalds has their clown; Ronald McDonald, Geico has their Gecko, Frosted Flakes have Tony the Tiger and here we have Kia with their posse of Hamsters.

The KIA Hamster Commercials have been a success from the first time they hit the television.  Driving through a city of hamsters stuck on hamster wheels, the KIA hamsters cruise in their KIA Soul while listening to some great music.

Over the generations of the commercials, they have featured a variety of music, and created a cult-like following with people talking about the hamsters, trying to figure out the songs and making spoofs of the video.  My favorite is here; a KIA Dealership in Canada spoofing the “Black Sheep” commercial.

Each of these songs is actually shown during the interior shots of the commercials either on the dashboard display or on the iPod connected to the car.  Pretty clever way to show a feature of the car while helping the customers figure out, “what’s that song in the KIA Hamsters commercial?
