Reclaiming products for another purpose is common amongst the three ‘R’s’ (reduce, reuse, recycle) but, who would have thought of turning a garbage truck into living quarters. Here’s a great example of how to turn an empty box into a very comfortable living space.

After recently shopping at Ikea and seeing their display of “How to live in 200 sq/ft” this truck really surprised me.

Apartment Therapy has a great breakdown of this movable condo:

Big thanks to AT reader Maren who sent us these awesome photos of a guy who lives out of…garbage truck? Correction: A highly modified garbage truck. This small space is nicer than some apartments we’ve seen! Hardwood floors…custom kitchen (with perfect storage!)…and a comfortable built-in sectional

First off, from It outside it kicks ass, doesn’t look like a traditional RV (assuming that’s the purpose). On the plus side, as a primary residence, you could park it in any commercial loading or parking zone and get a good rest or cook a decent meal.

The best part, in my opinion, is the back. Space for a dirt bike. Forget towing, I’ve already got my first five stops for this “reclaimed garbage truck.”. Guess one man’s (or a city’s) trash collector is another man’s treasure.
