Why do we see so many of these two SUVs at the top of the food chain?  Well, besides the price points, they are two of the best.

Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman pits the 2013 Range Rover against the 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG. Several technical & challenging obstacles await as these two SUVs navigate a purpose-built off road course. Did we mention that the course also happens to be the testing grounds for Motor Trend’s SUV of the Year? Old school meets new school as tried & true German engineering squares off against cutting edge British gadgetry.

Of course, no comparison between these two status symbols would be complete without a visit to their natural habitat… the mean streets of Beverly Hills, CA. While both of these contenders will get you through the dirt in style, which of these two uber-luxury six figure SUVs is most befitting of high society? Join us as we find out.

From off-roading to city sights, I agree with Johnny.  The Range Rover is the ultimate chameleon when it comes to being the car that can “fit in” everywhere.  The raw off-roading heritage from Land Rover combined with the latest technology marries with the luxury elements to give the edge to the Range Rover over the G63.  However, I would buy the Range Rover… not the G.

I see the G-wagons in the city and wish it was returned to its rightful owner, somewhere in the countryside where it can play.  Its kind of like the news stories of people trying to keep wild animals in their homes… its just not their habitat.

Check out the G Wagon Rollercoaster… which the Range Rover could probably handle too.
